Unique LED Clock made from Old Hard Drive

We’ve seen plenty of creative custom clocks in the past, and even hard drive clocks, but this one is unique.  Instead of using the LED’s as the hands of the clock, this one uses a stroboscopic effect to display the actual numbers while the drive is spinning.

“The hard drive platter has 10 digits cut all the way through it.  Groups of LEDs in each character position can be strobed independently at any given time. By careful timing of the light strobes, an illusion of still-standing numbers can be created.”  The only problem is that the clock is is pretty noisy while it spins and is not incredibly accurate.  Nonetheless, it looks awesome!
