We’ve seen plenty ofÂ creativeÂ custom clocks in the past, and even hard drive clocks, but this one is unique. Â Instead of using the LED’s as the hands of the clock, this one uses a stroboscopic effect to display the actual numbers while the drive is spinning.
“The hard drive platter has 10 digits cut all the way through it. Â Groups of LEDs in each character position can be strobed independently at any given time. By careful timing of the light strobes, an illusion of still-standing numbers can be created.” Â The only problem is that the clock is is pretty noisy while it spins and is not incredibly accurate. Â Nonetheless, it looks awesome!
