Incredible Balancing, Climbing and Jumping Robots

Using segway-like balancing technology, these incredible robots can climb a pole while balancing, hop like a pogo stick, and even climb up stairs. These outstanding creations and more are the product of University of Southern Cal’s robotics lab.

The first robot is called the iLean. It’s basically two wheels attached to a pole which it plants on the ground and balances upon. It then turns its wheels inward and climbs up the pole while maintaining perfect balance.

Next is the iHop which is essentially a self balancing pogo stick. It also has wheels to help it balance and move freely. The pogo-stick like abilities are demonstrated later in the video.

Using some gyros and sensors and the Arduino for a brain, this group of roboticists created their own segway-like balancing robot.Â� The project details are listed below and you can read the entire build process.Â� This project uses DC motors and many other parts that you can purchase in our store.
