Write in Midair with a Simple LED POV Display
Learn how to fabricate your own LED “wave” display to write messages in midair. When you move the device through the air, you’ll see a word flash through the blue LEDs. When you wave the device, it senses what direction it’s going and at what speed. It then knows what LEDs to illuminate and at what time thus causing appearing to write a message in mid-air when it’s waved quickly.
If you want to build your own, the parts are quite basic. All you need is some LEDs, sensors, and source code which is openly available. This project is very similar to the persistance of vision (POV) bicycle wheel animation which we also covered.
