The “Tableau” nightstand features a drawer with a mysterious glowing handle. Inside is a scanner-printer tray. Place a photograph or a handwritten note and it is scanned and posted to a Twitter account. Also, any digital images posted to its Twitter feed appear in the drawer as physical photographs. Zero ink “Zink” paper is used for the photo printouts. The Tableau is internet enabled via Wi-Fi, so there are no visible wires.
The Tableau itself is made from recycled materials and electronics. Although it looks like heirloom furniture, its glowing knob hints at something more. Currently on exhibit at Saint-Étienne Biennale 2010, it is expected to be available next year.
