Geo-Caching works by finding a “treasure” at a certain longitude and latitude. This box on the other hand opens only when it is brought to a certain location so it’s perfect to give to someone as a surprise gift or romantic occasion.
We’ve tracked down a few different ways to build your own. The first is the Reverse Geocache Puzzle which is programmed to open within 2km of its destination. An LCD displays the distance away from the ‘activation location’ each time you press a button. When the box is at the secret location, it automatically opens. The catch? The box self seals after 50 button presses.
The Frustromantic Box takes from the same idea. The core parts of the project are an Arduino, servo, LCD Display, and GPS module. So! Be inspired by these two superb projects and build your own mystery geocaching box. Bonus! Check out the Morse code puzzle box too.
