We thought the beer launching robot and the Twitter popcorn robot were cool, but a robot which brings you cool drinks on a hot summer day? Outstanding! The two robots talk to each other through a series of infrared sensors and navigation equipment. The robot pictured above on the right “docks” on the fridge which then delivers a cool drink into the robo-butler. The butler then delivers the drink back to it’s master. Superb build!

The project is from Norris Labs which features an assortment of fantastic robotics projects. They also have a Flickr stream with more detailed photos. Check out the video below to check out the system in action:

I think a nice version would involve a train running on a track w/ an RFID chip. When it reaches the beer station, the RFID chip is identified and the dispenser/fridge drops the beer into the beer car. This is somewhat less autonomous, but it might be a bit faster anyway.

Necessity might be the Mother of Invention, but laziness is its Muse.

Or, you could just use the black robot, give it a good battery, maybe a car battery or something like that, load it with the drinks you want, give it a faster motor (realy, you could spare 2 min if you gets it yourself then if you let that thing get it for you…), so it could get to you faster, and, because you could make room in it to load it with soda at the first place, and then some other fixes, and tada, you made a faster, cool mini soda vending machine that dont need to slowly drive to a fridge first, but it can just drive fast, right to you, and you dont need to sit on your fat ass for over a minute without drink in the hot sun… Would be a better idea… And the 2.0 version could have buttons on it so you could put on different drinks and choose what you want…
