Make your own Burning Blue Laser Pointer
This fantastic video demonstrates how to build a powerful, burning blue laser and place it inside a lighter. While you could get the laser diodes from the site mentioned in the video, you should buy the laser diodes way cheaper on eBay. We’ve covered a few similar projects including building a burning laser from a DVD drive. The overall hack is actually incredible simple, involving the simple soldering of a few basic components.

Easy to do, but not so sure about the “cheapy” part, after checking the laserdiy.com website. Blue laser diode driver costs $24.99 and the blue laser module is $59.99. Being a smoker myself i’d love a laser lighter, but around $85 for one is a bit too much ( not counting the price of the lighter nor the battery )

Yeah, that last part where he’s lighting a cigarette with it? Awesome way to instantly blind yourself in one eye. Not to mention that (since it’s a laser, hence not only coherent but probably collimated too) you should never use this anywhere where there might be people on a balcony above you. Or, even, just don’t use this anywhere. I love pew-pew-lazer-beamz as much as anyone but watch where you point that stuff.
