Make a Steampunk “Atomic Disruptor” Raygun from Old Parts

top1

The Atomic Disruptor Raygun is straight out of steampunk fiction. The cool DIY raygun has been put together by Cohophoto entirely from old radio and camera parts. If you are looking for a slice of futuristic fantasy, Cocophoto has illustrated the project on his Flickr photoset. Though short on words, the pictures show the construction details of the gun.

For the handle of the gun, the creator used an old super-8 movie camera into the handle for the raygun. The flash mount is an 8mm projector lens which forms the barrel. Vacuum tubes from a vintage radio go into the other parts of the gun. Does it work? Nah, but that’s not the point. Steampunk is all about obtaining that perfect vintage look to show off and this gun does provide one heck of a visual blast.

If you’re really ambitious, you could try building an entire steampunk rifle. For more guns and projectiles, browse through some of our airsoft & gun hacks.

I think the vacuum tubes and radioactivity warning would make this more dieselpunk or atompunk than steampunk.
Still cool though :D
