Problem: A wireless network is just barely out of reach. Solution: Build your own wireless repeater, place it between you and the wireless router and it’ll repeat the signal, stronger than before, giving you access to the previously unaccessable network. You can buy a repeater on eBay for cheap or build your own:
1. The Outdoor Repeater:
When the network is across the neighborhood, sometimes a weatherproof repeater is necessary. Learn to build your own with this detailed range extender tutorial.
2. Universal Wifi Repeater:
Learn to build another universal wireless repeater – A device that you can place anywhere and it will wirelessly repeat the strongest signal, onto another wireless network (with or without security).
3. Low Budget Solution:
The method is an approach to form the omni-directional radiated signal into a beam signal. The goal is to increase both incoming and outgoing signal strength on the antenna. A simple, affordable wifi repeater.

I have been envolved with Electronics for over 40 years and these gadgets do work. With todays economy who can afford to buy over inflated priced electronics when you can build your own for pennies on the dollar. Great Site.
Thank You

My problem is: two house 20m between thick old walls. ADSL and WiFi router in first and wanna work on Internet in the second but the signal is not strong enough. Probably I need
1. stronger WiFi router (or the same with stronger antenna)
or
2. 2nd router in building #2 connected to 1st through WiFi
or
3. WiFi amplifier?
Any advice is very appriciated!
ps. about repeaters: the signal surely will be stronger, but what about the speed? As far as I know after every repeater the bandwidth is just half of the source…

Hi,
I want to repeat a signal from my home to my work. It is 1.8 miles of clear air and no problem getting line of site. I can even mount the signal booster and receiver on a telephone pole if necessary.
I was wondering what the best way to do this. It seems to me that a laser would be the ideal solution but I have no idea if this is even possible? What do you think?

The links in the article above do a pretty good job of walking you through the setup process. Check them out and try to follow the directions in the tutorials.
