YubNub is a fantastic service. It lets you and other users create commands which it runs. Take the command “gim”, for example. By typing that command followed by a search term, YubNub would search Google Images for that term. It’s a nice little way of skipping a few steps and going straight to where you want to be. But here’s where it gets really nice: being able to access all of those commands from your address bar.

First off, you need to bookmark this url:
Open up the Properties for the bookmark and in the “Keyword” field, enter in a shortcut that’s easy to type, remember, and use. Mine is “yn”. Now, just type your shortcut into the address bar followed by the command and the search term.

Why is this so freaking sweet you ask Well, because it’s faster and more efficient than what you’re doing now. It’s also better than just adding keywords to individual search engines because that way you’d end up with tons more bookmarks than you really want. Finally, the best thing about it is that you can make your own commands. So, if you do one kind of search really often, you can make a command to help you do it better and faster.
Say, for example you wanted to search HacknMod for some ideas for a new hack you’ve been itching to try out. Well, I just made a new command for you. You can now type “hnm” plus your search term to check out our site for more cool hacks.
