Typically when you hear etching, you think of using hardcore toxic acids to leave an imprint on glass surfaces. Think again. In this excellent tutorial, learn to use painters tape to design custom glass patterns. The entire surface was covered in tape, then the pattern was drawn. Next, the tape outside of the pattern was removed and the entire surface was painted black. Finally, the painter’s tape was removed, revealing the result above.
Instead of painting the surface black, you could also just remove your cut out pattern, and leave the rest of the painters tape. Then, spray the cut out with glass frosting spray paint, remove the remainder of the tape, and you’ll see a result such as this one.
