How to: Connect a Kinect to a MakerBot
Having an Xbox 360 Kinect and a MakerBot is a perfect combination for scanning and printing 3D models. Typically scanning an object is a complex process (although we have seen some DIY 3D scanners in the past). With this combination, however, the process can be simplified without loosing too much detail.
Just download KinectToSTL, Meshlab, and Blender. Using these programs, you can transform some ABS plastic into a bust of your favorite person, or custom memorabilia. Check out the full tutorial.
