Starting with just a plastic garden barrel for the robot’s body, this Star Wars fan built his own ride-able R2D2 robot from scratch. The original R2D2 prop from the movies was only about four feet in height and was portrayed by an actor with a height of 3.7 feet. This R2D2 costume goes life size so that a man of average height can climb inside and operate it like a motorized droid.
The robot is equipt with internal fans to keep the rider cool as well as a rotating dome. Thanks to an array of LEDs combined with R2D2 sound effects from the original Star Wars, the bot becomes even more realistic. Unfortunately, no build details are available at this time, so we can simply admire the video for now.

That is really awesome! What are the exhaust looking pipes at sticking out of the motivators?
