DIY Open Source Sunrise Alarm Clock
Artificial sunrise clocks simulate the natural light of a rising sun instead of a shrill alarm to wake you up. However, retail sunrise alarm clocks are rather spendy. Using Open Source components, a this low cost alternative can be made for under $60.
Features:
- Display options of 12 or 24 hour time read-outs
- Programmable sunrise of lengths 5, 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes
- Automatically dims at night.
- Audible backup alarm
The lamp itself is a 60 watt full spectrum incandescent bulb that simulates the sun. In the spirit of open source, all project details and schematics are freely available.
