We’ve heard about virtual reality for decades now, but augmented reality is really starting to take off. If you don’t already know, augmented reality uses a computer to identify a certain pattern on a piece of paper, shirt, tattoo, etc and places a 3d image on top of the surface. Then, when you move the surface around, the 3d image moves with it in real time.

This project (shown above) which uses augmented reality glasses to give the user a first person perspective of the 3d image. Thus, you can view a 3d character on the surface of your desk and view all 360 degrees of the character as if it were physically present on your desk.
