he pile of CDs that had been massing in my room was growing to epic proportions. So I decided to make myself a CD lamp. The circular base was actually cut using a template on a table saw, then sanded after clamping it in a drill press. The cold cathode tube is from NewEgg. The one I bought isn’t available any more. (Good reason too, because it had a very non-functional ‘beat’ setting for music). Check out Chad’s CD lamp on flickr here. There are several other designs online, but this is one of the better ones that I have found.

Power Supply Dongle. Since the lamp was designed to work of a ATX power supply, I decided to use an external power connector on my Antec P180 case. The grey wire leads to the lamp, and is an old
mouse cable (recycle!).

how did you do the connection for the neon light b/c i have two of those same ones and i wana do somethin with them….thx
