Build Your Own “Follow Me Around” Robotic Stool
This RoboStool follows you around to provide your tired feet comfort at a moment’s notice. The robotic foot stool from Norris Labs is a regular vinyl covered stool in appearance. However, inside is an array of sensors and communications equipment. It has an IR based navigation system to guide the robot as well as a thermal sensor.
As the videos shows, the electronics and the navigation systems are hidden under the lid. Press the remote and the RoboStool moves towards the signal. If you want to build your own and have it follow you around the house, Norris Labs has provided the source code and schematics as a downloadable zip file. The micro-processors, wheel mounts, and the motor controllers can also be easily sourced.
