Arduino Device Mutes Celebrities on TV

Learn how to program the Arduino to turn it into an intelligent “celebrity screener” using some keywords and Arduino. The appropriately named “Enough Already” mutes the TV by decoding the closed captioning transcription track, which is transmitted along with the picture signal.. Of course, you can always program it to mute the TV for other triggers too such as a ShamWow commercial.

The Arduino listens for specific keywords in the transcription track. If the keywords are detected, Enough Already sends a command which activates the mute signal in the television remote. The TV is muted for 30 seconds and then it comes back on if the keyword is not detected again. Build your own using the open source code of the Enough Already project.
