Well, Christmas is here and everyone is sitting around, munching chocolates, watching old films and thinking of the Christmas dinner they’ll devour tonight. Undoubtedly, some of our dedicated hackers and modders are twitching to for some holiday hacks. So here are five of the best guides for Christmas.

Here’s a neat Twitter Christmas tree project changes color our tweets and changes the color of the lights depending on what you tweet. For example, if you tweet red then the ethernet-enabled tree will pick this up and change the lights’ color automatically. Check out another interactive tree.
Festive Rubens Tube
![]()
You’ve probably see how epic Ruben’s Tubes look when they display audio waves with fire. Now you can make a festive version for next to nothing at home. All you need is some basic tools, propane (such as a can you’d use for a barbecue or blow torch) and a log to create this cool Festive Ruben’s Tube. What I like best about this is that the flame flickers to the beat of any festive music you have playing.
Laser Christmas Tree

This is a great Christmas tree which has embedded lasers. The up-side to this that you need very few lasers because the guide makes use of diffraction gratings which effectively disperse one laser beam into several laser beams. It’s pretty easy to set up and you could have it going in just a couple of hours!
Bonus: Wicked Awesome Light Show
We can’t write a post about Christmas projects without featuring a massive, complex light show. There are lots of ways you can create your own shows, too. Merry Christmas and happy hacking!
